Recently, we asked our Facebook fans "What kind of Charities do you hold near and dear to your heart and if you care to share, why"? In response, the Chloe Real Estate team members have decided to share what charities are important to us. Over the next few months, our Team will take turns sharing a bit about ourselves and the causes/Charities we love to support. Chloe White, Realtor, will share her story this month...
Wounded Warrior Project
The mission of Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower wounded warriors. The purpose of Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is to raise awareness and to enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs. WWP began when several veterans and friends, moved by stories of the first wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq, took action to help others in need. What started as a program to provide comfort items to wounded service members has grown into a complete rehabilitative effort to assist warriors as they recover and transition back to civilian life. Thousands of wounded warriors and caregivers receive support each year through WWP programs designed to nurture the mind and body and encourage economic empowerment.
Surviving the battlefield. With advancements in battlefield medicine and body armor, an unprecedented percentage of service members are surviving severe wounds or injuries. For every US soldier killed in World Wars I and II, there were 1.7 soldiers wounded. In Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, for every US soldier killed, 7 are wounded. Combined, over 48,000 servicemen and women have been physically injured in the recent military conflicts. In addition to the physical wounds, it is estimated as many as 400,000 service members live with the invisible wounds of war including combat-related stress, major depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Another 320,000 are believed to have experienced a traumatic brain injury while on deployment. *numbers compiled as of May 2012
There are many ways to give back You can make a one-time donation, sign up for the advanced monthly giving program, host a proud supporter event or simply send a thank you note to an injured service member.
* Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. For more information on WWP, visit woundedwarriorproject.org.
Live with Intention...and check in!
It may be hard to believe that 2012 is halfway through! If you are like me, at the beginning of the year, you made a list of all the experiences and things you intended to do this year, from vacations and family time to career opportunities/achievements/promotions, personal growth or fitness. July is a great time to take a six-month inventory. Make a list of everything you have achieved so far and list goals you have not yet accomplished.
Ask yourself:
Is this still a goal of mine? (If not, drop it from your mind).
Have I gone into action to begin to achieve this goal?
What more can I do to achieve this important goal?
What new goals would I like to add to this list?
The key to loving your life is living with intention. Every Sunday, make a list of personal and business goals for the week. When those weekly goals support your BIG goals for the year, there is no way you can't accomplish what you wish. Be specific with your goals and have faith things will be brought to you at the perfect time!
If you want to take goal setting and life visioning to the next level, put November 9, 2012 on your calendar! It's our annual Vision Board Workshop and it's FREE. To be held at Keller Williams Realty, 29 South Main Street, West Hartford. ~Chloe White
What Exactly is the 80/20 Rule? "By the numbers it means that 80 percent of your outcomes come from 20 percent of your inputs. As Pareto demonstrated with his research, this "rule" holds true, in a very rough sense, to an 80/20 ratio, however, in many cases, the ratio can be a lot higher - 99/1 may be closer to reality. It really doesn't matter what numbers you apply, the important thing to understand is that in your life there are certain activities you do (your 20 percent) that account for the majority (your 80 percent) of your happiness and outputs". (From Yaro Starak's blog the founder of Entrepreneurs-Journey).
*The key to being most effective is to identify your 20% and spend more focused time doing those activities. Real Estate is our Business. Personal Growth and Development is our Passion. ~CRE Team
Chatham, located on Cape Cod, has a population of 6,625, as of the 2000 Census. In the summer, the population triples to approximately 20,000, not counting tourists housed by the numerous hotels, inns, motels and bed & breakfasts. While the tourist industry is very strong in Chatham, fishing is the town's main industry.
Chatham boasts a quaint, walkable Main Street which is home to numerous family-owned and -operated shops, restaurants and businesses. During the summer, concerts are held in a gazebo on Main Street.
Chatham, like much of Cape Cod, is suffering from an exodus of young people/families due to high housing prices and a lack of social and professional opportunities. The majority of homes in Chatham sit empty in the winter months until the summer when second home owners or rental tennants come to town.
