Who's Your Satellite?
A recent conversation brought up the importance of having a strong support system to rely on especially in
times of stress, change and adversity. She called this support your "tribe"; people who you can always count on to be there. Your tribe can be your family, close friends, or people who share a common goal or interest. We all need to belong to a tribe that provides security, support and safety. Your tribe doesn't need to understand or agree with everything you do. Your tribe needs to simply BE there for you.

A deeper connection within your tribe can be found with your "satellite". This concept is discussed in the book "Succeeding When You're Supposed to Fail" by Rom Brafman. A satellite is someone who is consistently available when needed. Satellites are there as a point of strength. You gain security knowing someone is always rooting for you. Having someone you can turn to whenever you need help makes enduring life's tough times a lot easier. A satellite gives "unconditional positive regard", support and acceptance with no strings attached. A strong satellite is there no matter what without a selfish motive.

You are comforted knowing someone is out there who cares for you...someone you can talk to about anything...someone who won't judge you...someone who is honest and direct while also being caring and respectful.

Ask yourself..."Who influences my ability to overcome adversity"? "Who brings out the best in me"? "Who is truly looking out for me"? "Who can I trust unconditionally"?

The right satellite can awaken new potential and possibilities in your life and help you achieve your goals. Strive to be a satellite too! Be someone who brings out the best in people. Be someone who people can trust. Be someone people can depend on. Be with your tribe! Find your satellite and cherish them! http://www.navalightnow.com/

Mortgage 101
Not only do you have to understand what type of mortgage to choose, you must understand the costs associated with your mortgage. All of these costs will be paid upon closing your mortgage.

Purchase Points: Purchase points, also known as a "buy-down" or "discount points", are an up-front fee paid to the lender at closing to buy-down or lower your interest rate over the life of the loan. Each point is equal to one percent of your total loan amount. The more points you buy, the lower your interest rate, but the more money you'll need at closing.

Interest Rate: When you get a mortgage, you are charged an interest rate. This is the rate which the lender charges you for using their money to buy a home. It determines how much your monthly payments will be. Generally speaking, the higher the interest rate, the higher your monthly payment.

Fees: There are always fees associated with getting a mortgage. These fees cover the cost of processing and underwriting the loan. These fees can include charges for ensuring the title to the home is free and clear, paying for a land survey, or paying for a home appraisal which gives you the estimated value of the property (lenders require an appraisal to close on your mortgage).

Deciding which mortgage to get may depend on what each lender does because different lenders may charge different amounts. Before it comes time to close, do your homework, make sure there are no hidden fees, and ask your lender lots of questions so you understand all the costs involved with your mortgage.

Where in the World...Washington, DC
Washington, DC - commonly referred to as Washington or simply DC, is the capital of the US.

DC is not part of any US state; it was formed from land donated by Maryland. The population was approximately 617,996 in 2011, however, population rises to over one million during the workweek due to commuters from Maryland and Virginia.

All three branches of the federal government are located in DC, as are many of our nation's best known monuments and museums. DC also serves as the headquarters of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and is host to 176 foreign embassies.

Each year, the National Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates spring in DC. The trees were a gift from Tokyo, Japan. For a century now, visitors and residents have been enjoying the beautiful pink blossoms. This year's National Cherry Blossom Festival will be held March 20 - April 27, 2012.
